Métiers d'Excellence LVMH

The great attention towards young people is sanctioned by the presence for the first time in the Exhibition and the debut of the collaboration with Métiers d’Excellence LVMH,a LVMH Group program born in 2021 with the aim of transmitting, enhancing, revealing the extraordinary heritage of crafts of excellence in the desire to attract a new generation and to recruit the best talents, to bring out a vocation and a passion in them so as to be able to carry on the great tradition of savoir-faire crafts.
Thanks to the agreement signed with ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO, this year All young people under 25 had free access to the Corsini Garden on the days of the Exhibition and were able to discover all aspects of craftsmanship by participating in workshops and small workshops offered by the many maisons under the LVMH Group in the dedicated spaces on either side of the central avenue of the Corsini Garden.

“Materia e Virtuosismo”

Collective exhibiotin promoted by
Artex - Centro per l’Artigianato Artistico e Tradizionale della Toscana

The group exhibition “Matter and Virtuosity” was held as part of the Craft Gallery which has presented themes and interpreters of Tuscan excellence in Italy and abroad since 2005 and has benefited for years from the scientific curatorship of Jean Blanchaert. For this edition of ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO, which took place in the European Year of Skills instituted by the European Commission, objects made thanks to the best technical and creative skills that the Tuscan territory could express were staged in the “Focus” space. The excellence of craftsmanship has become true virtuosity, declined in different materials and processing techniques. The exhibition aimed to show, enhance, publicize, and admire the exceptional levels that experience and technique have reached when they have generated true masterpieces, which have aroused the desire to be treasured by present and past generations to continue to be admired over time. Symbol of man’s infinite creative abilities, and his striving to know and challenge the limits of matter.

“La Grande Bellezza by Starhotels”

in collaboration of
OMA - Associazione Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte
Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and Gruppo Editoriale

“La Grande Bellezza by Starhotels” brought to the Limonaia Grandi Maestri the creations that were born from the virtuous contamination between craftsmanship and hospitality of excellence signed by designer Sara Ricciardi, the result of a partnership between culture, hospitality and great craftsmanship. It was the the fascinating blown glass collection for the Cloris table – plates, glasses, vases, and risers-produced by the Treviso-based company Vetrarti, known for its production of high-quality Murano glass, which was presented on a precious linen tablecloth embroidered with multicolored petals, made by Tessilarte, a historic Florentine company of fine linens for the home. It was joined by the Phoenix fragrance diffuser, a sculptural container object with the image of the Phoenix that involved: the Turin-based perfume maison Diletta Tonatto, the historic Murano furnace Mian, and the Milan-based metal workshop Silver Tre.

2023 SOCIAL PROJECT

He continued the focus social issues by ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO continues and thanks to the support of the Otto per Mille della Chiesa Valdese, welcomed to the Exhibition five social cooperatives to the Exhibition – gathered in the Androne of Palazzo Corsini-where young people with various disabilities were able to display and sell their creations, engaging the public with workshops and live demonstrations. The Cooperatives in the Exhibition were Trisomy 21, accessories and gifts made with different techniques by children with Down syndrome. Made in Sipario, a handicraft workshop where “special artists” with disabilities worked to hand-decorate paper, ceramics, wood and fabric for shopping bags, tableware and homeware. Mosquito Workshop, innovative graphic arts decorations made by boys and girls with mental disabilities, helped by a team of professionals from the fields of visual communication, design and art. Ulysses Piedelibero, a workshop where abandoned bicycles from the Depositeria Comunale have found new life: they have been repaired and restored by inmates in the workshops of the Florentine prison and have been put back on the road; but also a training workshop for young mechanics aimed at juvenile institute boys. GURI I ZI, an ethical brand of hand-crafted, table and home textiles made on looms as part of the women’s textile microenterprise project in northern Albania launched in 2006 to improve the lives of women, their families and the entire community, has now given employment and dignity to more than 40 people. The initiative was part of the project “Handicrafts that unite, handicrafts that include” promoted by the Corsini Garden Association in order to foster synergies among those who had chosen handicrafts as an opportunity for inclusion, through training courses, meetings, marketing actions and promotion of their skills and works. Part of this project is a program of “conversations” and themed meetings on the relationship between artistic form/disability andcraftsmanship as a form of social inclusion, which were organized over the three days of the exhibition to make a plea for investment in training and promotion of handicraft work for the start of a job placement project.

“BLOGS & CRAFTS Europe”

It has come to the special competition “BLOGS & CRAFTS young artisans and the web,” aimed at. under 35 craftspeople and at young influencers and talents has reached its 10th edition, launched by ARTISAN AND PALACE in 2014 to. to involve the new generations who, with their particular vision on innovation issues, have made a fundamental contribution in the changes in the craft sector. The hope was to be able to host more and more young people and, with their presence in the Scuderie di Palazzo Corsini-the exclusive area in the Exhibition dedicated to them-to make visitors understand that craftsmanship is a concrete reality for young people. The contest crossed borders and opened again this year to the whole of Europe, thanks to the collaboration with the World Crafts Council Europe. There was renewed collaboration with the Ferragamo Foundation, which organized for participants a private visit to the Salvatore Ferragamo Archives, guardian of the company’s tradition and the craftsmanship so dear to its founder. Influencers were tasked with live blogging about the Exhibition on their social channels, invited to Florence as guests of Starhotels.

“CUCINA ALL’OPERA: LA LIRICA A RICETTE DI FAMIGLIA”

The 10th edition of “Ricette di Famiglia”, curated by food and wine journalist Annamaria Tossani, will be dedicated to the union of gastronomic culture and lyricism.

Special guests, leading performers of our time, will be soprano Rajna Kabaivanska, Superintendent of the Arena di Verona Foundation as well as soprano Cecilia Gasdia, mezzo-soprano Eufemia Tufano, and baritone Vito Priante.

The three daily event will take place at 6 p.m. in the “Giardinetto delle Rose”, creating a theatrical atmosphere thanks to the setup by Fornasetti with the “Teatro” wallpaper by Cole & Son, along with live and recorded performances of lyrical pieces.

The audience will have the opportunity to witness live cooking of the recipes prepared on a professional Inox Metal kitchen by the chefs from Università della Cucina Italiana, directed by Guido Mori. The university offers various educational paths in the field of Culinary Arts and Sciences, Bakery and Pastry Arts, and Food and Wine Journalism.

@Filippo Manzini

We are developing several satellite projects such as the one with Artex – Center for Artistic and Traditional Craftsmanship of Tuscany, which will set up in the “Focus” space a new exhibition with objects made thanks to the best technical and creative skills that the Tuscan territory can express. The excellence of craftsmanship becomes true virtuosity, declined in the various materials and processing techniques.

With the Florence Chamber of Commerce we hypothesize a collaboration that will put an important focus on the topic of restoration.

Together with Associazione OMA Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte instead, we aim to organize a large photo and video exhibition that will tell the public about the painstaking work that the Association has been doing for decades to bring the best crafts to the public’s attention.

Among our goals again this year is the implementation of a new social project which aims to bring together entities nationwide that are involved in developing handicrafts as a means of social inclusion and offer these entities opportunities to meet, train, sell, and promote their skills and the work they do.

For the next edition, the format is renewed, as it is every year. “FAMILY RECIPES” with a program that aims to enhance culinary craftsmanship with the intention of enhancing the strong link with old family recipes and traditional knowledge through interesting daily events that combine the contemporary gastronomic culture with the flavors and cuisine of the past, including book presentations, show cooking and tastings.

Some professionals in the field will propose in the “Decorating Space” free workshops by reservation (wallpaper, wicker weaving, fresco and gold leaf…) while the art historians of the Hidden City Cultural Association will offer during the days of the Exhibition – with a specific schedule – free guided tours a Giardino and Palazzo Corsini al Prato.

Free educational workshops for children will also be offered to bring them closer to the world of handicrafts and encourage the development of manual skills and stimulate their creativity.

As every year, the “Perseus Award” will be distributed to the exhibitor most appreciated by the public and the “Giorgiana Corsini Award” given by the Exhibition Promoter Committee to the most beautiful booth that results in a complimentary space at the following year’s Exhibition.

A rich program of meetings and events will complement the 2024 Exhibition, offering visitors an overview of market trends as well as useful ideas and suggestions to create business opportunities for exhibitors.

Fund Raising

"Abbraccia la Loggia del Buontalenti"

“ABBRACCIA LA
LOGGIA DEL BUONTALENTI”

Fundraising 2024

The fundraising campaign to help restore the monumental Buontalenti Loggia in Florence’s Palazzo Corsini that Bernardo Buontalenti built in 1591 along with the complex hydraulic system to conduct water to the fountains in the Renaissance Garden continues.
As per the project already approved by the Superintendency, diagnostic surveys are underway prior to commencement of the restoration and conservative work on the Loggia, the Fountain and the overhead terrace.

Once work has been completed, the Corsini Garden will be accessible free-of-charge to the public as per the indications set out in an agreement to be stipulated at a later date with the relevant bodies.

To support the “Embrace the Buontalenti Loggia” campaign, the organizers called upon Anglo-Norwegian artist Magnus Gjoen, who has created a limited, collectible series of “snowballs” (Ø 10 cm) inspired by late Renaissance and Baroque styles.
